(My) Best Music Pics of 2012

A little round  up of my favourite pics from the last twelve months shooting gigs,  I hope you enjoy them!  Editorial usage licenses are  available for all of these pictures either through London News Pictures or my Photoshelter site. Drop me a line if you’d like to find out more.   Plus I’ve got a Facebook Music Photography page and a Twitter feed which are there for the liking’n’following – if you want to keep track of the gigs I’m shooting go for your life…

Top pic – Chris Martin bounding through tonnes of confetti at the Emirates.  For the full Coldplay shoot click here

Florence and the Machine at Ally Pally, 3/08/12

Florence above, with a very theatrical outfit and stage’n’light show at Ally Pally.  For the full Florence ATM shoot click here

The Alabama Shakes at the Boston Arms, 23/02/12

An amazingly gutsy and soulful performance from Brittany and the Alabama Shakes, really glad to see them in such a small venue and I love their album.  For the full Alabama Shakes shoot click here

Public Enemy live at SW4, 26/08/12

Yeeeah, boy!  Flavour Flav’s still got it, as do the rest  For the full Public Enemy shoot click here

The Scissor Sisters live at Shepherds Bush Empire, 16/05/12

The first of the three times I’d shot Scissor Sisters this year, a very snazzy outfit from Jake, lots of fun, and definitely the most crowded pit I’d been in this year.  For the full Scissor Sisters shoot click here.

Elbow live at The O2 Arena, 2/12/12

There was a lot of love in the air tonight as man-of-the-people Guy announced that this would be their last show for a while, due to Guy hopping over to NYC for six months to write a musical.   Guy’s really the man when it comes to snapping Elbow, and he made full use of the long runway extending into the crowd.  Full shoot here.

Brian May at The Royal Albert Hall, 16/09/12

Good to see and snap a few legends on stage at the Sunflower Jam – for the full shoot from this gig click here.

The Horrors live at Alexandra Palace, 3/08/12

I’ve really enjoyed the Horrors’ third album Skying but had never actually snapped them before.  I’d heard they were usually difficult to shoot with tough lighting, tonight I managed to play it to my advantage and was pretty happy with what I got.  For the full shoot from this gig click here.

Mark King of Level 42 at The Royal Albert Hall, 16/09/12

I swear Mark King has got one of the most badass thumbs in the business, mental bass playing – would like to see him go head to head with Flea!  Check out the rest of the pics here.

The Black Keys at The O2, 12/12/12

Definitely my best drummer shot to date, and good to see and shoot the band who played their music a but more pumped up’n’ rocking than what you find on their albums.  The rest of the pics are here.

Mumford & Sons at The O2, 11/12/12

Big stage, big band, nice & lively – couldn’t fault them really.   Full shoot here.

Paloma Faith live at Somerset House, 17/07/12

Paloma’s got bags of charm and a lovely personality on stage that I found it impossible not to like, great show too.   Full shoot  here.

Keane at The O2, 30/11/12

I was surprised how much I enjoyed this gig as I’ve never been into Keane’s stuff.   The stage was right in the middle of the O2 and all credit to them for  a good show, Tom pulled all stops out running around the stage’s circumference being a solid front man.  Full shoot here.

The Prodigy live at Brixton Academy, 21/12/12

Without a doubt my toughest, but most adrenalin charged gig of the year and  a great one to finish 2012 on.   The lights were mental with rapidly flashing strobes & backlighting with a rare bit of frontlight, and Keith was jumping round with a tonne of attitude spitting out lyrics like a proper firestarter.   Great fun, the crowd was bouncing which might have explained why the venue had hired security the size of WWF Wrestlers.   You can check out the rest of the Prodigy pics here.
