The Great Escape Festival 2016
This weekend saw me head down to sunny/rainy Brighton for The Great Escape, armed only with my girlfriend in one hand and my little diddy Fuji x100s in the other. I opted for some R&R instead of ‘working’ it as I might have done in my press photographer guise, it was a good shout and definitely nice to see/listen to bands at leisure. After a bit of research using the festival’s awesome iPhone app and print guide, plus a bit of googling, we opted for a pretty eclectic selection of acts ranging from techno to folk. I took a few casual pics, here are some from those acts who we most enjoyed.
First massive shout out to South London band Shame. Loads of authentic punk rock intensity here, the most exciting band of the festival for us.
Meilyr Jones, below, was the second star of the weekend for us. I last saw Meilyr about 5 years ago with his last band Race Horses. His personality and humour really won the crowd at his festival performance.
