One of my regrets in music was to never have seen The Libertines the first time round, despite being seriously into both albums on a near-OCD multiple-plays-a-day level. There was real buzz throughout the venue all day, with smoke flares being let off during The Enemy and the crowd at the front getting seriously rammed. So it wasn’t that much of a surprise when the organisers asked The Libertines to stop halfway through their second song to calm the audience down and ask that people move back to alleviate the pressure on those up front. Our 3 songs shooting was cut short to a song-and-a-half & as we exited the pit we saw fans being pulled out because of the squash. I think people were ok, the crowd moved back as asked and after a short period the gig continued. I trotted to the media centre and spent an hour editing my pics & managed to nip back to the arena to catch the last half dozen or so songs. They’ve just announced two shows at Ally Pally in September, looks like I’m going to have to go to both, one to shoot and one as a punter. 🙂 If you like my pics look me up on my Facebook music photography page,Twitter or Flickr to keep track of the gigs I’m shooting. My pictures are available for editorial usage syndication through London News Pictures and my Photoshelter site. Feel free to tweet/like/share etc this post – sharing’s caring – but unauthorised copying/pasting/using of my images in any way is a big no-no (and illegal!) so please don’t do it. Thanks!
Some hard-core Libertines fans with flowers for the guys getting a bit teary in the front row, awww….
